Call to Action | BC’s Unequal Woman Campaign | Unite Here! Local 40.            Women make up the majority of workers in BC’s hotel industry. Hotels are refusing to recall their long-term workers when the industry recovers. Instead, mass firings are being used to strip away gains made by women. Unite Here! Local 40 Actions | Hilton Metrotown Workers’ Labour Dispute.     Unite HERE! Local 40 is organizing delegations to inform past and future customers of the Hilton Hotel about the ongoing Hilton Metrotown workers labour dispute.  They will also be holding rallies outside of Burnaby Winter Sports to inform Inside Edge Hockey about the teams they are sending through the Unite HERE! Local 40 picket line.  Please see details below for upcoming actions:

Delegation to Holiday Customers and Canadian Western Bank Board Members      Date: Wednesday, October 27, 2021

 BCFED | Paid Sick Leave Day of Action | Oct 25            In anticipation of the Provincial Government’s announcement on the number of paid sick days for all BC workers, the BC Federation of Labour (BCFED) is organizing a collaborative Paid Sick Leave Day of Action in the Lower Mainland!  Members are encouraged to participate, as this will be the last opportunity to voice the importance of 10 employer-paid sick days for all workers. The event has two actions:

1) Taking photos and uploading them to social media with the message, ‘ I support #10DAYS ‘ and,

2) signing an open letter to the BC government via a QR code that will be provided on the day of.

Applications Open | StrongerBC Young Leaders Council | Oct 27         The BC government is seeking British Columbians between the ages of 14 and 26 to form a new youth leaders council. The StrongerBC Young Leaders Council is an opportunity for youth to share their expertise and lived experience with the provincial government.
